Certified mail service provides the sender with a mailing receipt,
and a delivery record is kept at the post office of address. No record is kept at the office from which
certified mail is mailed. No insurance coverage is provided. Certified mail is dispatched and handled
in transit as ordinary mail. Only mailable matter on which postage is paid at a First-Class rate
(including Priority Mail) may be accepted as certified mail. Certified mail may be combined with return receipt service (Form 3811) and restricted delivery service, subject to the applicable standards and fees. |
