Tyner made a sweep of their hard fought two game series
with West last night wih a 38-31 win in the
Bulldog arena. The Redmen's stats now stand at nine and six compared with West's four and 13. Tyner
nipped West earlier this year 49-47. Last night's affair was a slow defensive contest with the Tyner
victory margin coming through the foul lane. Both teams hit 13 fielders, but Tyner hit 12 charity
tosses as opposed to five Bulldog one pointers.
Tyner employed a zone defense in the second half after pressing the Bulldog five in the first half. West used a zone most of the game. As balanced scoring indicates, both teams were forced to work for good shots as a result of the defensive nature of the game. Al Wojcik and Jim Gangloff had 10 points apiece for West while Jim Waller and Earl Smith had nine each for Tyner.
Tyner won the exciting "B" team game by a 24-22 margin.
