On Friday, November 11 something new in the pep
sessions was demonstrated by the cheerleaders. Barefooted and dressed similar to Indians,
with feathers and war paint on their faces, they marched out Indian style, and held a Council
of War to decide the outcome of the Tyner-Grovertown game that evening. Tied to a torture
stake was a life-sized dummy and the cheerleaders gave the “beat Grovertown” yell
with the crowd joining in and started beating on the dummy, tearing it to pieces and finally
presenting the head to Mr. Crabby. The cheerleaders thus far have greatly appreciated the
interest that the students have shown in contributing toward school spirit, especially at
the work and show the other schools through our cheers that a good team never gives up.
