FIRST GRADE NEWS
We had a very nice surprise last week. Mrs. Hollett brought her little Movie Theatre and told us the story of Little Black Sambo. We enjoyed the pictures. Thank you, Mrs. Hollett.

SECOND GRADE NEWS
The girls are ahead in the number race.

We are glad Ronald Warren can be home again.

Mrs. Darn,  Mrs. Kenneth Jacobson,  and   Mrs. Haines had a lovely Birthday for our room. It was in honor of the Dec.,   Jan.,  and  Feb. birthdays.

Sandra Karn told us many interesting things about her Florida trip.
THIRD GRADE NEWS
We are glad to have Janice Eckstein back after a week's absence.

The children are very proud of the picture presented to the room by Mrs. Bellekopf. We are just finishing reading the book, "Silver Chief."

One reading class just finished "The Lost Puppet," and have made a puppet theatre.

We have finished the history of early America, and have a very nice collection of colored history pictures.
FOURTH GRADE NEWS
The fourth grade are making posters on education against the use of alcohol and cigarettes.

Timothy Klopfenstein, in our class, won first in the local, first in the county, and third in the state with his poster last year. We are hoping each child will do his or her own work with all the suggestions from parents or others, that they are able to get.


PREVIOUS
We are enjoying our free reading period each week now.

FIFTH - SIXTH GRADE NEWS
The spelling contest between the grades has been very close with the score now standing at a tie of 304 for each grade.

We are finishing some health posters on foods. After cutting stencils for the lettering we used spatter paint in various colors.

Twenty baby guppies were born in the aquarium on March 1st. We have added a ghost shrimp.

The corms are coming up in the flower pots. We are to identify them as soon as possible.

SEVENTH GRADE NEWS
We have some very good spellers in our room. Beverly Capes, Jean Lowry, and Carol Sue LaMunion couuld spell all of the words e have had in spelling, and Mrs. Crabbs gave them words we have not studied. Beverly Capes won then.

We have finished our Geography and are now studying Health.

Four of five pupils have been absent from our class because of flu and colds.

EIGHTH GRADE NEWS
We received our first Civics grades this year.

There have been several students absent because of colds lately.

Some of the eighth grade girls have been noticing some of the shop work the boys are doing. The girls think they do fairly good work for beginners.
