We are having a very nice time reading in "Our New Friends" book. The children are glad that they can play outside. We are still working on our Paper Match dishes. How happy we are to welcome Charlene Arnett. Charlene came to our school from Walkerton.

On the last day of February, we had a birthday party. The guests of honor were:    Beverly Barnes,   Jean Kinney,   Jimmie Kinney,   Judy Stiles,    Freddy Erickson,   Jimmie Martin,   Rosalie Miller,   and   Donna VanBlaricom. They had birthdays during the last three months. We want to thank Mrs. Swanson, our P.T.A. Room Mother, Mrs. Barnes, and Mrs. Erickson for our lovely refreshments of ice cream and pretty cup cakes.

Several children from our class have read books aloud to the second grade. We like to do this very much. Sandra Stamm is now reading the book  NIXIE BUNNY IN HOLIDAY LAND.

We are happy to have Paul Brubaker and Bill Ross back in our group following their long absences.

Recently we lost Ethel Mullins from our group as she transferred to Elkhart City Schools; however, we are very happy to receive Ethel's cousin Leon Arnett as a new pupil in our midst.

Today we each wrote a birthday greeting to Ethel. These greetings were written in the form of letters in English Class.

5   and   6 GRADE NEWS
We are enjoying the School of Air Broadcasts from WLS on Wednesday and Fridays. On Wednesdays the Adventures on Freedomm programs portray true to life events in Prairieville. Rusty Gordon and Mousemeat always provide a situation that is interesting and helpful. The Friday program is a series of lessons on "The New World of Atomic Energy. So far this semester the broadcasts have laid a foundation of information about the history of this timely subject.

There is much speculation on what Mr. Robbins has as a surprise for us later this spring.
